Khatti Daal (Yellow Lentil with Tamarind juice)



Ingredients:
·         Red Linsen                ¾ cup
·         Tomamto Puree        4 tbsp
·         Tarmarind Puree       4- 5 tbsp
·         Oil                                 5 tbsp
·         All Spice powder        ½ tsp
·         Cumin seeds             ½ tsp
·         Red Chilli Powder      1 tsp (heaped)
·         Turmeric Powder        ½ tsp
·         Salt                                1 tsp
·         Curry leaves                  5 - 6
·         Coriander Leaves       for garnishing
·         Red chillis (dry)           4-5



Method:
In a sauce put Linsen , water , tomamto puree, oil , red chill and turmeric powders.Cook till lentil is tender.Then add tarmarind paste and blend it with blender a form a smooth liquidy texture.After that add cumin seeds and All spice powder.Cook it for 15 – 20 mins on a low flame.In another pan heat oil. Add cumin seeds , curry leaves and Red chillis. let them splutter. Then add this into lentil. Stir once and dish out. Serve with cumin rice.

Tip: If you want to make it more presentable first dish out linsen in a bowl then give tarka and don’t stir.
